2022 Hino 268 - P2002 Code - DPF Efficiency Below Threshold

Question

This is a 2022 box truck with only 45k miles. It's throwing P2002 and won't stay out of the shop. This is the new Cummins-powered Hino. The dealer says it's 'drive cycle related' because we do city deliveries, but we've never had this issue with our older Hino-engine trucks.

It's been 'repaired' twice by the dealer with forced regens and sensor cleanings, but the light comes back within a week. Is there a real fix for this or is this truck just a lemon?

✅ Confirmed fix: There is a TSB for this. The 'duckbill' drain on the air intake housing can get clogged, or in heavy rain, it allows moisture to hit the MAF sensor, causing skewed airflow readings.

The actual fix for the P2002 on these newer B6.7 units is often a recalibration of the ECM and replacing the DPF pressure sensor tubes with an updated kit that prevents condensation from freezing/clogging the lines. We did the TSB update and the truck has been clean for 3 months.

Check your EGR cooler. If it's leaking even a tiny bit internally, the steam will coat the DPF and throw off the pressure readings, leading to a P2002. Use a pressure tester on the tank and let it sit overnight.
