PACCAR MX-13 SPN 2622 FMI 2 Engine Power Limited - DOC Outlet Pressure High

Question

My 2018 Kenworth T680 threw a derate code 2622 while pulling a grade today. The truck is stuck in its first stage of power reduction and I am seeing an EGV fault on the dash. I am worried the DOC face is plugged or I have a bad sensor reading in the aftertreatment can.

The issue ended up being a combination of a skewed Aftertreatment DOC Outlet Pressure Sensor (Part #2109740) and carbon-packed sensor ports. I replaced the sensor, cleaned the ports with a 4mm drill bit by hand to clear the soot, and performed a 'Reset Aftertreatment Learned Data' using DAVIE4. The truck has been running 1,500 miles since the repair without the derate returning. Total cost for the sensor was about $185 plus two hours of labor.

Check your delta-P sensor tubes. On these MX-13 engines, the small tubes going to the DOC/DPF can get pinholes from vibration or carbon buildup inside the orifice which throws off the voltage reading back to the PCI.

Run a relative compression test and check your overhead. If you're putting too much soot into the can because of a bad injector or an intake leak, it will spike that outlet pressure reading immediately during high load.

Pull the DOC and look at the face. If you see 'face plugging' or oil staining from a failed turbo seal, that code 2622 is legitimate and no amount of sensor swapping will fix a physically blocked substrate.
