Question

I recently replaced a dead CECU on my 2018 T680 and now the HVAC controls are acting up and throwing code SPN 520212 FMI 14. The blower motor works fine but the blend door actuators are unresponsive and I have no cold air. It seems like the new module is not talking to the HVAC controller correctly.

The issue was resolved by using PACCAR Electronic Service Analyst (ESA). I had to go into the 'Program' tab and specifically reload the vehicle's original configuration file from the PACCAR server. The new CECU came with a default template that didn't match my sleeper configuration; once I synced the parameters for the HVAC Control Logic and set the 'Number of Actuators' to 5, the code cleared and the blend doors calibrated immediately.

That FMI 14 usually points to a software parameter mismatch between the Cab Control Unit and the HVAC control head. Did you use ESA to configure the new CECU after you installed it?

Check the LIN bus wiring between the CECU and the HVAC actuators. If the CECU is programmed for a single-zone system but you have a sleeper unit, it will fail to initialize the dampers.

You need to make sure the software version on the new CECU is compatible with your HVAC control panel version. Sometimes a firmware update is required on the panel itself to match a newer CECU.
