Kenworth T680 PACCAR MX-13 Forced Regen Timeout and SPN 5246 FMI 0

Question

My 2018 T680 keeps kicking out of a parked regen after about 10 minutes. The dash displays a 'Service Aftertreatment' warning and the engine starts to derate to 5 mph. I am getting plenty of white smoke before it fails and cancels the process.

The issue was a failed Hydrocarbon Doser (7th injector) solenoid that was sticking mechanically. I replaced the Fuel Dosier Valve (Part #2103734) and performed a 'DPF Ash Reset' and 'Deep Cleaning' cycle using DAVIE software. The exhaust temperature finally hit the required 1050F at the DOC inlet and stayed there for the full 40-minute cycle. Total part cost was about $480 and it cleared the 5mph derate immediately.

Have you checked the EGR valve? If it's sticking open during the regen, you won't get the exhaust temps high enough. Look at the EGR position command vs actual in DAVIE4 while the regen is running.

Check your Delta P sensor readings on the DPF. If the pressure isn't dropping during the burn, the CECU will kill the regen to prevent a thermal event. Make sure the sensor tubes aren't rusted through or clogged with soot.

White smoke usually points to unburnt fuel or high moisture. Check your Hydrocarbon (HC) doser valve operation. If it's leaking or the spray pattern is garbage, you won't get the DOC up to the 1100 degrees needed to cook the soot out.
