Kenworth T680 PACCAR MX-13 Forced Regen Fails - Code P1496 and P1495

Question

My 2018 T680 is stuck in a 5 MPH derate and won't finish a parked regen. It starts the process but kicks out after about 10 minutes saying 'Regen Aborted - Low Exhaust Temp'. I can't get the heat high enough to burn anything off and I'm stuck at a rest stop.

The issue was a failed Hydrocarbon Doser Fuel Manifold and a cracked fuel line leading to the 7th injector. The fuel wasn't reaching the doser at the correct pressure (required 85-110 psi). Replaced the manifold (Part #2284955) and the doser unit. After clearing the codes with DAVIE4 and performing a deep soot clear, the truck pulled a full regen hitting 1050F and exited derate. Total parts cost was around $850 plus 3 hours of labor.

Inspect the DOC (Diesel Oxidation Catalyst) face. If it is face-plugged or oil-soaked from a previous turbo failure, it won't react with the injected diesel to create the heat required for the DPF soot burn.

Check your Hydrocarbon (HC) doser valve operation. If the 7th injector isn't actually atomizing fuel into the exhaust stream, you'll never hit the 600+ degrees needed for the regen to sustain itself.

You might have a stuck-open EGR valve or a failing turbo actuator. If the engine is pulling in too much cold air or can't build backpressure, the exhaust stays too cool. Use DAVIE4 to run a component test on the VGT.
