2018 Toyota Camry - P0441 / P0455 Large EVAP leak and hard start after gas

Question

Every time I go to the gas station, the car won't start right up. I have to crank it for about 10 seconds while giving it a little gas to get it to stumble to life. After that first start, it runs perfectly fine until I have to fill up again. Check engine light is on with P0441 and P0455.

I've already replaced the gas cap with a genuine Toyota one because I thought P0455 was always the cap, but that didn't do anything. The light came back on two days later.

✅ Confirmed fix: The Vapor Canister Purge Valve was stuck in the open position. When you fill the tank, fuel vapors are pushed into the intake manifold because the valve isn't sealing. This creates an extremely rich condition that 'floods' the engine. Replaced the purge solenoid (located on top of the engine) and the hard-start issue after refueling is completely resolved.

Check the charcoal canister located near the rear tank. Sometimes if you 'top off' the tank too much, raw fuel gets into the charcoal and destroys the canister. If that's the case, you'll need the whole assembly, but usually, that throws a P0446 code as well.
