2018 Toyota Camry - P0441 and P0455 Gross EVAP Leak

Question

I have an 18 Camry that just hit 60k miles. The Check Engine light is on with codes P0441 (Incorrect Purge Flow) and P0455 (Gross Leak). The weirdest part is that every time I fill up the tank at the gas station, the car struggles to start. I have to pump the gas pedal to get it to fire up, then it runs fine until the next fill-up.

I checked the gas cap and the seal looks fine, no cracks. I also don't smell any raw gasoline around the car. What should I be looking at next?

✅ Confirmed fix: This is a classic stuck-open Purge Valve (Solenoid). When you fill the tank, fuel vapors are forced into the intake manifold because the valve isn't sealing. This 'floods' the engine with vapors, causing the hard start.

I replaced the Purge Valve located on top of the engine (OEM Toyota part is best here) and the P0441/P0455 codes cleared after one drive cycle. The hard start after refueling is the dead giveaway.

Check the charcoal canister located under the rear of the car. If you are one of those people who 'tops off' the gas tank after the pump clicks off, you likely flooded the canister with liquid fuel. If the canister is heavy, it needs to be replaced.
