2015 Fiat 500 Abarth - P0105 Map Sensor Circuit Intermittent

Question

My 500 is throwing a P0105 code and the turbo boost feels like it is surging under heavy load. The car occasionally stalls when coming to a stop and the idle is hunting between 700 and 1100 RPM. I am worried it is a wiring harness issue which I know these Fiats are prone to having near the firewall.

The issue was actually a break in the wiring harness about 6 inches back from the MAP sensor plug. I found a frayed wire inside the loom where it rubs against the battery tray. I repaired the wire with a heat-shrink solder sleeve and replaced the sensor with a Genuine Bosch unit (Part #0261230114). The car now idles perfectly at 850 RPM and the P0105 code has not returned after 500 miles of driving.

If you have an aftermarket intake, make sure the oil from the filter hasn't contaminated the sensor tip. Even if you cleaned it, the internal diaphragm might be fouled beyond repair.

You should check your battery voltage and grounds. The MultiAir system is extremely sensitive to voltage drops, and a failing alternator or weak battery can cause ghost sensor codes like P0105/P0106.

Check the connector at the TMAP sensor on the cold side pipe. The pins can get loose or corroded, leading to a high resistance signal that triggers the P0105 circuit code.
