2010 Ford F-150 Driver Door Ajar Light Stays On B1319

Question

My dash keeps saying the driver's door is open even when it is physically slammed shut. This is draining my battery because the interior dome lights wont turn off and the alarm keeps tripping at night. I scanned the GEM/Body Control Module and pulled code B1319.

The issue was a completely severed Black/Yellow wire inside the rubber accordion boot between the driver's door and the frame. I pulled back the boot and found three wires had cracked insulation and the ground for the door switch was snapped. I soldered in a new 3-inch section of 18ga wire, used heat shrink tubing to seal it, and the B1319 code cleared immediately. Total cost was just a few cents for the wire and solder.

The door ajar switch is actually integrated into the door latch assembly on these trucks. If the WD-40 trick didn't work, the internal microswitch has likely failed electronically and needs replacement.

You can try to bypass the switch at the BCM to see if the light goes out. This will tell you if the issue is in the door itself or if you have a short in the interior wiring loom.

Check the wiring harness inside the rubber boot between the door and the A-pillar. These Fords are notorious for wires fatiguing and snapping from opening and closing the door so many times.
