2014 Ford F-150 Driver Door Ajar Light Stays On - Code B1319

Question

The interior dome light will not turn off and the instrument cluster keeps displaying the 'Driver Door Ajar' warning even when the door is slammed shut. This is draining my battery overnight and I can't arm the factory alarm. The power locks still cycle, but the truck thinks the door is permanently open.

I fixed this by replacing the Driver Door Latch Assembly (Part #DL3Z-1521813-E). The internal microswitch had failed completely. I removed the interior door panel, disconnected the actuator rods and the electrical connector, then swapped the latch. Once the new Motorcraft part was in, the B1319 code cleared immediately and the dome lights function normally again. Cost was about $110 for the part.

Check the wiring in the accordion bellows between the driver door and the A-pillar. The wires tend to fatigue and snap after years of opening and closing the door, which can cause an open circuit B1319 code.
