Cruise Control won't engage on Freightliner Cascadia - Code P0565

Question

I'm having a persistent issue where my cruise control refuses to turn on while driving. I hit the 'On' button on the steering wheel, but the dash light never illuminates and I can't set my speed. I pulled the codes and it is showing P0565 active in the bulkhead module.

It turned out to be a failed clock spring assembly (Part #A22-68048-000). The internal ribbon cable had a high-resistance spot that only affected the cruise 'on' circuit. I replaced the clock spring, which cost about $185 for the part, and ensured the steering angle sensor was recalibrated afterward. Cruise control now engages perfectly every time.
