2020 Hyundai Elantra - Intermittent No Start - P0335

Question

I'm having a weird issue where the car starts perfectly in the morning, but if I drive to the store and try to start it again 10 minutes later, it just cranks and cranks without firing. If I let it sit for an hour, it starts up like nothing happened.

I caught a P0335 code (Crankshaft Position Sensor 'A' Circuit). Is this a common thing for a car with only 40,000 miles? I checked the connector and it looks clean.

✅ Confirmed fix: This is a textbook Crankshaft Position Sensor (CKP) failure. The internal copper windings expand when hot, causing an open circuit and loss of signal. Once it cools down, the connection is restored. Replacing the CKP sensor on the front of the block fixed it. It's a very common failure on the 2.0L Nu engines.

Check the wiring harness where it passes the manifold. Heat soak can cause the resistance to spike in the signal wire. If the sensor replacement doesn't work, you might need to overlay a new shielded wire from the sensor to the ECU.
