2016 Ram 2500 - P208E and Stuck in Limp Mode (Service DEF See Dealer)

Hey guys, my 2016 Ram is giving me a headache. I got the 'Service DEF System' message on the dash and now it's counting down to a 5 MPH derate. I've got a P208E code stored for 'Reductant Injection Valve Stuck Closed'. I can't afford to have this thing park itself in the middle of a job site.

I tried cleaning the tip of the DEF injector with warm distilled water because I heard they get crystallized, but the code comes back almost immediately after I clear it and start driving. The DEF tank is full of fresh fluid from a sealed jug. I can't hear the pump priming like I used to. Anyone seen this before on the 4th gens?

✅ Confirmed fix: It's likely a dead DEF pump assembly. The P208E on these Rams often triggers when the pump can't build line pressure, not just a stuck injector. I swapped the entire DEF pump module (located inside the reservoir bracket) and performed a 'DEF Reductant System Reset' via WiTech.

Once the pump was replaced and the adaptation was cleared, the countdown disappeared and the code stayed gone. Those Bosch 2.2 pumps are known for internal diaphragm failure.

Check your wiring harness near the frame rail for any chafing. These Cummins trucks are notorious for the harness rubbing against the frame and shorting out the control circuit to the dosing valve. If you have a multimeter, check for 12V at the plug while running a stationary test.
