2015 Nissan Rogue - P17F0 CVT Transmission Vibration

Question

Getting a very noticeable 'judder' when accelerating from a stop on my Rogue. It feels like driving over rumble strips for a split second. The code P17F0 'CVT Transmission Inspec' is stored in the TCM.

I've changed the CVT fluid every 30k miles using Nissan NS-3, so I've been careful, but the car has 105k miles now. Am I looking at a total transmission replacement or can this be serviced?

P17F0 specifically refers to the CVT belt slipping or a judder being detected by the speed sensors. Most of the time, this is caused by the valve body failing to maintain correct pulley pressure. You might get lucky by just replacing the valve body and doing the 're-learn' procedure.

✅ Confirmed fix: Unfortunately, P17F0 is a death sentence for these units. The code indicates the internal belt has already damaged the pulley surfaces. The only permanent fix was a complete Nissan-remanufactured CVT assembly. Make sure the dealer also installs the updated TCM software to prevent the new one from suffering the same fate.
