2015 Toyota Prius - P0A80 Replace Hybrid Battery Pack

Question

My 2015 Prius just hit 160k miles and the 'Check Hybrid System' warning popped up along with the master warning light. When I scan it, I get P0A80. I noticed the hybrid battery fan in the back seat area is blowing full blast.

The battery display on the dash goes from full green to two purple bars very quickly while driving. I tried clearing the code, but it comes back within 5 miles every time. Is there any way to save this pack or am I looking at a full replacement?

✅ Confirmed fix: The P0A80 indicates the voltage delta between blocks exceeded 0.3V. I went with a complete new OEM battery pack from Toyota. Upon removal, I found heavy corrosion on the copper bus bars as well. New pack restored the MPG back to 50+ and the car is silent again.

You can try to identify the specific bad modules using an app like Dr. Prius and an OBDLink adapter. Usually, it's just 2 or 3 cells that have high internal resistance. Replacing just those cells is a cheap band-aid but usually only lasts a few months.
