Question

My 2018 LT625 with the A26 engine is logging a SPN 102 fault and derating under heavy load. I can hear a slight whistling sound coming from the passenger side when the turbo starts to spoil up. It feels like I am losing boost pressure because the fuel economy has dumped significantly over the last week.

The issue turned out to be a cracked hot-side charge air cooler tube and a blown gasket at the intake manifold inlet. I replaced the CAC pipe (Part #3988456C1) and the gasket, then performed a high-pressure smoke test to confirm no further leaks. Total repair cost was about $450 in parts and the truck is pulling hard again with boost hitting 32 PSI under load.

If you hear whistling, check the VGT actuator movement. If the vanes are sticking, the ECM might see a mismatch between requested and actual boost, triggering that 102 code.

You need to inspect the wiring harness going to the Intake Manifold Pressure sensor. Rub points are common near the alternator bracket which can cause intermittent signal drops resulting in FMI 2.
