2015 Fiat 500L P0105 Map Sensor Code and Limp Mode

Question

My 500L is throwing a P0105 code and feels like it has no power when accelerating. The car starts fine but surges at idle and sometimes stalls when coming to a stop. I'm worried the ECM is going out because the readings on my scanner stay at 101kpa regardless of RPM.

The issue was settled by replacing the MAP sensor (Part #55209037) and more importantly, repairing a corroded ground wire in the loom about 4 inches back from the sensor plug. I found the wire was brittle and had high resistance. After soldering a new pigtail and installing the Bosch sensor, the MAP readings finally started fluctuating with throttle input, and the P0105 cleared and stayed off. Total cost for the sensor and pigtail was about $95.

Check the wiring harness connector at the MAP sensor located on the intake manifold. These Fiats are notorious for the pins pulling back in the connector or the wires fraying right at the plug due to engine vibration.

You need to look for vacuum leaks around the turbo inlet and the intercooler piping. If the sensor is seeing atmospheric pressure constantly, it might be a split vacuum line going to the boost controller or the sensor itself.

If you are seeing a fixed 101kpa reading, the sensor is definitely stuck or the circuit is open. Unplug the sensor and see if the value changes to a default low; if it doesn't, you likely have a wiring short to reference voltage.
