2012 Kenworth T800 ISX15 - Low Fuel Pressure Under Load - Code 559

Question

My T800 is dogging it hard whenever I'm pulling a heavy load up a grade. It feels like it's starving for fuel. Once I level out, the light goes off and it runs okay. I'm getting Code 559 for 'Injector Metering Rail 1 Pressure - Data Valid but Below Normal Operating Range.'

I've already changed the fuel filters twice in the last week thinking I got a bad batch of fuel, but the micron screens look clean. I don't see any visible leaks on the high pressure lines or the rail.

✅ Confirmed fix: Performed a fuel return flow test and found the Fuel Pressure Relief Valve on the rail was popping open at too low a pressure. It was bypassing fuel back to the tank instead of holding it for the injectors. Replaced the relief valve and she pulls like a freight train again.

If you're still losing pressure, you might have a high-pressure pump going south. Check the ceramic plungers in the pump; if they crack, they won't build volume under load.
