2015 Chevrolet Silverado - P0449 and P0455 - Hard to start after fueling

Question

Every time I go to the gas station, the truck refuses to start on the first try. I have to hold the pedal to the floor to get it to kick over, and then it smells like raw gas for a minute. The CEL is on for EVAP Vent Solenoid and a Large Leak.

I've already replaced the gas cap with a new ACDelco one, but the problem persists. It only happens right after a fill-up. Otherwise, it starts and runs perfectly.

✅ Confirmed fix: Replaced the EVAP Purge Volume Control Valve located on the intake manifold. The valve was stuck open, allowing fuel vapors from the tank to flood the intake while fueling. This causes a 'rich' no-start condition. Replacing the valve fixed the hard start and cleared the EVAP codes.

P0449 is specifically the Vent Solenoid circuit. Check the wiring harness near the charcoal canister above the spare tire. It's very common for the wires to rub through or for the connector to get filled with dirt and corrode.
