2015 Audi Q7 3.0 TDI - P1064 Fuel Pressure Control Malfunction

My Q7 started bucking under heavy acceleration and eventually went into limp mode with a flashing glow plug light. I am getting a persistent P1064 code indicating a mechanical malfunction in the fuel pressure control. The engine idles fine but any load at highway speeds causes the rail pressure to drop below specified values.

The issue was the Fuel Pressure Regulator Valve (N276) located at the rear of the fuel rail. I found the O-ring had a small tear allowing pressure to bypass. Replaced the valve with Bosch part number 0281006002, torqued it to 80Nm, and performed the 'Fuel Supply System Bleeding' routine via ODIS. Total parts cost was about $180 and the car pull strongly again without codes.

Check the N290 Fuel Metering Valve on the high-pressure pump. If the screen is clogged with metal shavings, your HPFP is likely disintegrating.

You should log Group 020 and 021 in VCDS while driving. Compare specified vs. actual rail pressure to see if the deviation happens only at high RPMs or across the board.

Verify that your fuel pressure regulator (N276) on the end of the rail isn't leaking internally. If the seal fails, it will bleed off too much pressure back to the return line.
