2018 Freightliner Cascadia - Right Front Turn Signal Fault Code 1519 Active

Question

My dash is showing a bulb out warning and my right front blinker won't fire at all, though the rear works fine. My ELD is throwing a SPN 1519 FMI 5 code for Current Below Normal or Open Circuit. I need to get this sorted before my next DOT inspection because the hyperflash in the cab is driving me crazy.

Found the issue at the SAM Chassis module connector X5. The pin for the right front turn signal circuit (Circuit 46R) had backed out of the connector housing slightly, causing an intermittent open circuit. I re-pinned the connector using a new terminal (Part # A0035452726), secured the wire with a small zip-tie to prevent tension, and cleared the fault using DiagnosticLink. Total cost was under $10 for the pin and about 2 hours of probing wires.

You need to put a multimeter on the signal pin at the headlight connector and check for 12V while the hazards are on. If you have nothing there, work your way back to the bulkhead connector at the firewall to isolate if the break is in the hood harness or the main chassis harness.

Check the SAM Chassis module fuses first by the passenger side footwell. Even if the light is out, the SAM might have tripped a soft-circuit protection that needs to be reset via a battery disconnect for 20 minutes.

These cascadias are notorious for wiring harness rub-throughs right near the hood tilt pivot point on the passenger side. Peel back the loom and look for a green-crusty break in the yellow wire.
