International DuraStar - P0611 FICM Performance Issues and Intermittent Stalling

Question

My 2012 DuraStar is acting up and throwing code P0611 along with some rough idling. It starts fine in the morning but as soon as the coolant gets up to temp, it feels like it loses power and occasionally just dies at stoplights. I am worried the FICM is toast but I want to make sure it isn't just a wiring harness rub-through.

The issue was definitely the Fuel Injector Control Module itself. I used a diagnostic scan tool to monitor the FICM Main Power and it was dropping from 48V down to 22V as soon as the engine bay got hot. I replaced the module with a remanufactured unit (Part #1889815C96), cleared the codes, and performed a hard reset. Total cost for the part was roughly $750 and it's been running perfect for two weeks now.

You need to look closely at the injector harness where it crosses over the valve covers. Vibration often causes the loom to chafe, and if the high-voltage side shorts to the block, it will trigger a module performance code immediately.

Check your voltage at the FICM pins while the engine is running. These MaxxForce units are notorious for internal solder joints cracking, and heat soak makes the connection expand and fail, causing that P0611.

Verify that your batteries are actually holding a load. If the system voltage drops below 10.5V during the injector discharge cycle, the FICM logic board can't maintain the 48V output required, which sets P0611.
