2007 Mazda 6 SRS Light - Code B1935 Passenger Airbag Resistance Low

Question

The airbag light on my dash is flashing a code 19 and my scanner confirmed B1935. It seems to happen more frequently when I have a passenger in the seat or when it is hot outside. I am worried about the system deploying randomly or not working in a crash.

The issue was the yellow 2-pin connector located behind the glovebox leading to the passenger inflator. There is a TSB regarding terminal tension for this code; I used a pick to slightly tighten the female pins and applied a small amount of DeoxIT D5 contact cleaner. After securing the harness with a zip tie to prevent it from wiggling, the resistance stabilized at 2.4 ohms and the B1935 code has not returned in three weeks.

B1935 usually points to a wiring issue rather than the airbag inflator itself. Check the connector under the passenger seat; it is common for those to get kicked or corroded, changing the resistance the module sees.

You need to be very careful with a multimeter on SRS circuits as the small voltage can trigger the bag. If you do test, make sure the airbag is disconnected and you are testing the harness side for shorts to ground.

Check the clockspring if this were a driver side code, but since it is passenger side, focus on the harness running from the glovebox area down to the floor. Vibration often rubs the insulation raw on these older Mazda chassis.
