2018 RAM 1500 windshield fluid pump not working - Code B142C

Question

My washer pump completely stopped working yesterday and I am getting a B142C code on my scanner. The wipers move fine when I push the stalk, but I hear no motor noise from the reservoir area. I checked the fluid level and it is full, but nothing is hitting the glass.

The issue was a completely corroded pin inside the pump connector housing. The seal had failed, and the salt water caused the B142C code due to high resistance. I replaced the pump with Mopar part #68269787AA and spliced in a new pigtail connector. After cleaning the area and applying dielectric grease, the system is working perfectly. Total cost was about $65 and an hour of time.

Check the ground wire near the driver side headlight bucket. If the ground is loose or corroded, the BCM can't pull the circuit low and will throw that specific high-side fault.

Before buying parts, get a test light on the two-pin connector at the pump. Have someone hit the washer button; if the light glows bright, your wiring and BCM are fine and the pump internal winding has failed.

B142C specifically points to a high circuit condition, which usually means the BCM sees an open circuit or a dead short. You should check the connector at the pump for corrosion, as those wheel well liners let a lot of salt and moisture in.
