2018 Freightliner Cascadia DD15 - Recurring SPN 3251 FMI 0 (DPF Pressure High)

Question

I'm having a hell of a time with my 2018 Cascadia. Every 500 miles or so, it triggers a high pressure across the DPF. It starts with a yellow dash lamp then goes straight into a 25% derate. I can force a parked regen and it clears for a day or two, but then back to square one.

I pull heavy loads through the mountains and I'm losing time. The soot level meter hits 3 bars almost immediately after a long haul. I've already swapped the Delta P sensor and checked the tubes for clogs, but the problem persists. Turbo seems to be spooling fine and I don't see any black smoke, but the computer thinks the filter is packed.

✅ Confirmed fix: You need to pull the DPF and have it professionally baked or replaced. However, the root cause on these DD15s is often the One-Box internal baffles failing or specifically the DOC (Diesel Oxidation Catalyst) being oil-poisoned. In my case, it was a leaking turbo seal spitting just enough oil to glaze the DOC, preventing the heat needed for a full passive regen. Replaced turbo and DPF, problem solved.

Check your 7th injector (Hydrocarbon Dose Valve). If that nozzle is carboned up or leaking, it won't atomize the fuel correctly during the regen process. This leads to 'face plugging' the DPF where the fuel doesn't burn off the soot, it just bakes it into a crust. Pull the doser and see if it's wet or caked in carbon.
