2018 Freightliner Cascadia DD15 - Recurring SPN 3251 FMI 0 (DPF Pressure High)

Question

I'm having a hell of a time with my 2018 Cascadia. Every 400 miles it starts asking for a parked regen, and if I don't catch it, it goes into a 25% derate. The code SPN 3251 FMI 0 keeps popping up indicating the DPF pressure is too high across the filter.

I’ve already spent a fortune at the dealer and they just keep forcing a regen and sending me on my way. The ash levels supposedly look fine on their laptop, but the backpressure builds up way too fast under load. I'm worried the DPF is actually cracked or the 7th injector is leaking.

✅ Confirmed fix: You need to pull the Hydrocarbon (HC) Doser injector (7th injector) and do a spray pattern test. Mine was 'dripping' instead of atomizing, which caused the DOC to never reach full temp. This led to incomplete burns during active regens, causing the DPF to face-plug. Replaced the HC Doser and the problem is gone.

Check your One-Box unit for face plugging. If you are getting high pressure but the ash loads are low, you might have an issue with the EGR valve sticking open which is loading the face of the DOC with soot before it even gets to the DPF. Pull the inlet pipe to the One-Box and look for heavy soot.
