2018 Cadillac Escalade 6.2L Bank 2 Rich Condition P0175

Question

My 2018 Escalade is throwing a P0175 code and stalling out when I come to a stop. It feels like it is loading up with fuel at idle, and the idle is very hunting. Gas mileage has dropped significantly over the last month.

The issue was the High Pressure Fuel Pump (HPFP) internal seal leaking fuel into the engine oil. I replaced the HPFP (ACDelco 12694508) and the high-pressure fuel line (12677002) which is a one-time use part. After replacing the pump and performing a fresh oil change to remove the fuel-diluted oil, the fuel trims returned to +/- 3% and the P0175 code stayed gone. Total cost for parts was about $240.

Have you checked the High Pressure Fuel Pump (HPFP)? On these LT engines, the internal seal on the HPFP can fail, leaking raw gasoline directly into the crankcase through the lifter valley. This will cause a rich condition as the fumes are sucked back into the intake through the PCV system.

Check your LTFT (Long Term Fuel Trims). If they are pegged at -25% on Bank 2 only, you might have a leaking fuel injector on that side. You should also check the oil to see if it smells like gasoline, which is common if an injector is stuck open.

Since you also have a P0101, inspect the PCV hose that connects to the driver's side valve cover. If the hose is cracked or the PCV valve is stuck, it can cause weird trimming issues, though usually it creates a lean condition, not rich.
